DESIGN APPROACH

  • 1869, Green & Colorado Rivers from Wyoming to a Big Canyon (The Grand Canyon)
  • I wanted to convey the nature, movement, and aspects of the Grand Canyon to support the tone of the show.
  • I compiled research of animals from the Grand Canyon and the topography to make specific design choices to support the director's vision of sarcasm as well as the physical location of the show.

CANYON MICROPHONE

Click the link to see a video example of the microphone.

I had placed a shotgun microphone pointing at the actors for the climax of the play. Our adventurers have reached the grand canyon, after abandoning their crew. In this scene they scream out for their disbanded crew, only to recieve no response. I had ran the microphone through an effects processor to add delay and reverb to replicate what they would sound like in the canyon to accentuate the severity and tone of the most emotional moment of the play
