DESIGN APPROACH

  • The director and I agreed that this show needed to move fast. Each scene essentially crossfades into eachother to keep this pace
  • I also used a combinatino of diagetic and non-diagetic sound to tell the stories the actors devised in rehearsal

OVERTURE + TRANSITIONS BETWEEN SECTIONS

  • The director and I decided to set the world of the show through the use of an overture that included all the songs used as transitions between each section
  • This allowed the audience to seperate each section

MICROPHONES

The director and I specifically discussed using microphones in a non-traditional way for this play. We decided to use effects during the “Depression” scenes to show the barrier between the 2 characters speaking in the scenes.
